Milwaukee Public Art Solar Bus Shelter

The Bay View area in Milwaukee will have a solar bus shelter that is also an art piece in June. Standing 32 feet high, the art piece will be as tall as the light posts in the plaza. The “Art Stop” will have its own ambient LED lighting powered by solar PV on the structure, creating a one-of-a-kind landmark.

The estate of David John Dombrowski, who worked for the Department of Public Works for 30 years, provided the largest investment of $150,000. The owner of the Bay View Supermarket across the street contributed $5,000.  Milwaukee County is contributing $50,000 to the project and they will own the “Art Stop”. The shelter and monument will be built on city-owned land and will be maintained by the Kinnickinnic Avenue Business Improvement District #44.
