Solar Sister Earns Social Entrepreneurs of the Year Award

Solar Sister is a nonprofit organization that combines clean energy technology with economic opportunity for women entrepreneurs in Sub-Saharan Africa. They provide women with a start-up kit of inventory and training and marketing support to sell products like portable solar lamps and clean cook stoves. Katherine Lucey, founder and CEO of Solar Sister, was one of the 33 individuals named Social Entrepreneurs of the Year by the Schwab Foundation. The award honors individuals who are pushing for progress on issues affecting underserved communities.
