We Energies Coal Plant Conversion Good For The Triple Bottom Line

The completed conversion of We Energies Valley power plant in the city of Milwaukee from coal to natural gas has been good for the triple bottom line- people, plantet, and profit.  It is an important milestone for the health of area residents, workers and the environment.  Stronger air quality regulations coupled with protests by the Cleaner Milwaukee Coalition  about asthma and respiratory disease impacts of the dirty coal plant prompted the change.  Greenhouse gas emissions are cut in half and the cost of natural gas for the combined heat and power plant is 40% less, saving $10 million this year for steam and electric customers.  To read more, see JS2015JS2010We Energies.
