WPPI & NextEra Build Point Beach Solar Energy Center

Just north of the City of Two Rivers, NextEra owns the Point Beach Nuclear Plant.  WPPI Energy, a nonprofit regional power organization based in Sun Prairie, is contracting with NextEra to build a 100 megawatt (MW) solar generating project at that site. The solar project, to be built and operated by NextEra, when completed by 2021, will be the largest in Wisconsin, providing electricity to the equivalent of 23,000 homes. WPPI has a 20-year power purchase agreement to buy the solar electricity. The Point Beach Solar Energy Center will generate 150 to 200 jobs during its construction.
