Northland Pines Schools Energy $avings Initiatives

The Northland Pines school board approved a $663,000 project for building improvements and solar panels at Eagle River and Land O’Lakes schools under Act 32, which allows for schools to fund energy efficiency projects without going to referendum (See March 2017 Energy On Wi News). The project is expected to save $106,000 per year through energy efficiency by converting to LED lights and sealing areas of air leakage. The solar fields are expected to save $50,000, or 19 percent per year in electricity costs. Northland Pines will have no upfront costs by working with investors who will finance the projects through the 30 percent federal investment tax credit.
