The Rocky Mountain Institute’s Business Renewables Center (BRC) reported that US corporate renewable energy procurement achieved a new record in 2018, with 3.57 gigawatts (GW) of announced clean energy projects to date. This is up from 2.9 GW in 2017 when corporate renewables deals accounted for approximately 20% of new renewable energy built in the U.S. Many of these corporations, including Organic Valley in Wisconsin, took the global RE100 pledge to purchase 100 percent renewable energy over the next few decades. Others, including Kohler Corporation, have a net zero greenhouse gas emissions goal by 2035. To view the companies making renewable energy transactions, visit BRC’s Deal Tracker.
