One example of clean energy benefitting low-income households comes from the Upper Peninsula (U.P.) of Michigan, where renters and homeowners will receive home energy assessments and solar installations. This Energy Conservation and Assistance program is administered through the Superior Watershed Partnership Michigan Energy Assistance Program (SWP MEAP).
MEAP helps U.P. communities self-sustain and use local renewable power. Several solar systems have been installed already with more to come next spring. Mining Journal
