Milwaukee Partners with We Energies to Build 2.25 MW Solar Project

The City of Milwaukee’s largest solar project to date will be a 2.25 MW, 7,000 panel solar array built on 8 acres of a closed city landfill near General Mitchell airport. The project will be developed, owned and paid for by We Energies through its Solar Now pilot, which will lease the land from the City. The renewable energy generated will offset electricity use by Wisconsin Air National Guard in climate emergencies to assure mission readiness. At other times, the power will go into the grid. The revenue from the lease, expected to be $90-$100,000 annually, is intended to be used for other climate action initiatives.  WPRjsonline
