Renewable energy generation is projected to increase 11 percent in 2020 in the US according to the US Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) EIA Short-term Energy Outlook, while US electric power generation is forecast to experience a 3 percent decline overall in 2020. These numbers were revised down 5 percent for wind to 19.4GW of new wind capacity, and down 10 percent for solar to 12.5GW of new utility-scale solar, since the last quarter’s report. In contrast, natural gas generation is forecast to rise 1 percent and coal to fall by 20 percent.
