ACEEE’s 2021 City Clean Energy Scorecard analyzed the efforts of 100 major U.S. cities grouped by population size and growth rate to make buildings and transportation more energy efficient and scale up the use of renewable energy—and do so equitably. Minneapolis ranked fourth and scored the highest on equity. Madison -ranked 39th -was the most-improved along with Charlotte (#42) and Honolulu (#24). Madison increased city investments in renewable energy and required all multifamily and some commercial buildings to install electric vehicle chargers. Milwaukee ranked 53rd.
