Grant County Wind Farm Approval Reboots Wisconsin Wind Energy

WPS and MGE’s purchase of the 92 MW $162 million Red Barn Wind Farm in Grant County was approved by the PSC in January. This is the first wind farm approved in 12 years under the state wind siting rules and only the second one (Lafayette County) in that time period. Red Barn will provide revenues to landowners, $366,000 annually to Grant County and the host municipalities, and local jobs. The project, 90 percent owned by WPS, will span more than 12,000 acres across 3 communities and is expected to be operational by the end of 2022. wsj
