Wisconsin Joins New National Green Banks Partnership to Accelerate Clean Energy Investment

Wisconsin’s Green Innovation Fund (GIF) was among nearly 40 green banks to take part in US Green Bank 50, a historic partnership to accelerate clean energy investment nationwide. US Green Bank 50 will act has a hub for community focused green banks working to build and share best practices, coordinate and leverage resources, and support the needs of the green banking industry. Green banks are a key bridge to help communities otherwise unable to secure capital from traditional financial institutions to invest in clean energy projects. They have a particular focus on low-income and disadvantaged communities too often left behind in the clean energy transition.

Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) is joining Green Bank 50 to advance the development of Wisconsin’s first green bank. Through GIF and its partnerships, public and private financing are being accelerated for the deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects across the state. These investments will enhance energy independence, reduce carbon emissions, and lower energy costs for families and businesses. If your organization is involved in designing, building, owning, financing, or operating public or private infrastructure projects and is interested in clean energy financing, contact WEDC to explore how GIF can support your initiatives.
