Over the last decade, the share of workers who get to work by private car declined in 99 of America’s 100 largest urbanized areas. The report, compiled by the U.S. PIRG Education Fund and the Frontier Group, calculated this using “journey to work” data from the 2007-2011 American Community Survey, comparing it to the year 2000. The report also found some surprising results: some of the largest declines in vehicle miles traveled per capita took place in Milwaukee and Madison. The report can be found here.
