The sun is shining for homeowners and commercial property owners across Sauk County, as the Solar Sauk County program commences in March and runs through July 31. The Fort Atkinson City Council unanimously approved a resolution supporting Glacial Heritage Solar Group, a solar group buy planned for Jefferson County between January and August 2018. Two community nonprofits, Heart of the City and Sustain Jefferson, are organizing the group buy.
Both Sauk and Jefferson Counties group buy programs are being administered by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) at no cost to the counties. MREA will provide free, public, one-hour long educational sessions called Solar Power Hours all over the counties for prospective participants to learn how solar energy works and to answer questions. Solar group buy programs allows individual home and commercial property owners to access lower prices for solar installations through the power of volume purchasing.
