Cheq Bay’s solar group buy program was the largest in Wisconsin in 2018 with $1.2 million of projects generating 470 kW of solar from 78 contracts (see Energy On WI news, October 2018). Participants included 66 households, nine businesses and three municipalities. Next Energy Solution (NES) was again chosen as the contractor for the 2019 solar group buy program.
With solar group buy programs, the more collectively-installed capacity, the cheaper the price for everyone. Cheq Bay Renewables expects that the prices will be even lower in 2019 and that, if they achieve the highest tier, there will be a 5% reduction in price. Education sessions for community members will be scheduled soon.
