Wisconsin saw an 18% increase in electric vehicles (EVs) from 2017 to 2018 though only to 3,000 EVs. In anticipation of the growth in this market and its impacts on the electric grid and pricing, the PSC opened an investigation of key issues and is taking public comment now until May 20. The commission developed eight areas for inquiry, including ownership of EV charging infrastructure, customer expectations of electric utilities regarding EVs, how to finance infrastructure, appropriate rate design and tariffs, and the impact of EVs on the distribution and transmission system.
