The clean energy sector in Minnesota grew jobs at 2.5 times the rate of overall job growth in 2018. Seventy-two percent of those jobs were in companies of 20 or fewer employees, from small businesses that help commercial customers deliver energy data and savings, to solar energy installers. With plans by policy makers and utilities to double current renewable power to 50 percent of Minnesota’s energy mix by 2030, “explosive” growth in clean energy businesses and development of a smart grid are expected.
