LUHS, In Minocqua, WI, installed the largest solar array of any public K-12 school in the state in December 2016.The 280 kW project along with major energy efficiency upgrades were paid for under Act 32, that allows school districts to raise the tax levy for spending on energy efficient projects without taking the issue to referendum. The solar array should offset 20 percent of the school’s energy use with guaranteed savings by Schneider Electric of more than $291,000 over fifteen years.
