Eau Claire High Schools Go Solar

A 252kW solar system was installed on Memorial and North High Schools (360 panels on each school) through the Solar on Eau Claire Schools Fund, a partnership between the Couillard Solar Foundation Solar on Schools program and the Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation.  Couillard Solar Foundation donated the 720 panels and the school foundation  raised the additional $291,000 privately. The arrays are estimated to save Eau Claire Area School District over $20,000 a year in energy costs while reducing their greenhouse gas emissions.

The solar project will become part of the high schools’ STEM curriculum, so students learn how clean, affordable energy is being produced on their schools and the environmental and financial benefits it brings. Also, it exposes them to career opportunities in solar and engineering industries. ECPS Foundation, WQOW
