We Energies installed a 2.25 MW solar system on the roof of Harley-Davidson’s Powertrain Operations facility in Menominee Falls that went on line in November. This largest single solar rooftop system in Wisconsin, rather than providing electricity to Harley-Davidson, is part of We Energies’ Solar Now program that is adding clean renewable energy to their grid for their customers in general. The nearly 8,400 solar panel system, designed by SunVest Solar and installed by Pieper Electric, can power more than 400 homes.
The Harley-Davidson solar project is one of eleven completed in Solar Now. With six more solar projects under construction, together they will generate more than 15 MW in total. We Energies works with large businesses, nonprofits, and government customers to lease space on their roofs or unused land to host solar panels. The goal of Solar Now is to make the company’s electric generation fleet net carbon neutral by 2050 and reduce carbon dioxide emissions 55% by 2025. JS, weenergies
