EPA’s 2022 Energy Star Most Efficient list will include only electric appliances that can run on 100 percent renewable energy. For the first time, it will not include furnaces, boilers, or gas dryers, which counter the goal of a rapid transition to clean, decarbonized power. Also, gas appliances- especially gas stoves, expose people to high levels of air pollutants indoors that compromise health and can lead to respiratory illness, according to a study led by Rocky Mountain Institute.
