In July, Vernon and Milwaukee Counties adopted resolutions to become part of the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Wisconsin program, a program that enables property owners to obtain low-cost, long-term loans for energy efficiency, renewable and water conservation improvements. The City of Milwaukee has had its own successful PACE program for years. The City’s program will be maintained independently while the rest of the county’s businesses and organizations can now finance the costs of energy and water upgrades through PACE.
With much of the state’s population covered by PACE, projects are in the pipeline. To date, 6 projects have been approved with more than $4.9 million in total project costs funded. Total lifetime savings of more than $10.3 million will be realized. Projects include hotels in Fond du Lac and Madison, Waterloo Technology Center, Uniroyal, Velocity- a commercial multifamily building in Verona, and H&H Energy Services. Improvements include windows, HVAC, lighting, shell, roof, and Solar PV.
