US EPA ended $7 Billion in Solar for All grant awards to states and tribes on August 8, 2025 that were appropriated to help fund solar and energy storage system installations for low- and moderate-income households. The goal was to lower their energy bills, boost energy resilience, improve air quality, and create jobs.
Wisconsin was awarded $62.4 million from the Solar for All program in April 2024 to create the “PowerUp Wisconsin” initiative that was estimated by the WI Economic Development Corporation to serve over 7,400 Wisconsin households and save each up to $500 a year. Midwest Tribal Energy Resources Association (MTERA) was awarded $62.3 million from Solar for All that was eliminated too. MTERA represents 35 tribes in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota, including 11 in Wisconsin. CBS, Insight, WisPolitics
